Fragrance Discovery Sets.

Everything you need to know about discovering, testing and comparing fragrances with TRU ICON™.
What is a fragrance discovery set?

A fragrance discovery set is a collection of 3–5 different fragrances, selected from different brands, scent profiles and fragrance styles.

Our curated sets are usually built around a particular occasion, season, style or purpose, making it easier to explore several relevant options without purchasing multiple full-size bottles.

How do I choose a set?

Start by thinking about what you're actually looking for. You might want fragrances for a particular season, occasion or setting, or you may simply want to explore certain brands and scent profiles.

Take some time to look through the fragrances included in each set, read about their notes and characteristics, and compare the different options.

There isn't one universally “best” set — choose the one that most closely matches what you're interested in discovering.

Can I compare fragrances side by side?

Absolutely — that's one of the main reasons the sets exist.

Rather than making a decision from one quick test, you can wear different fragrances on different days, compare them over time and see which ones you naturally prefer.

You may discover fragrances you love, others you don't, and some that surprise you after several wears. That experience gives you much more information when deciding which fragrance deserves a full-bottle purchase.

How long should I test a fragrance?

Ideally, wear each fragrance multiple times across several days before making your final judgment.

Pay attention to more than the first few minutes. Notice the opening, how the fragrance develops as it dries down, how strongly it projects, how long you can detect it and, most importantly, whether you actually enjoy wearing it.

A fragrance you love immediately may become less interesting later — while another may grow on you after several wears.

Where should I apply a fragrance sample?

Common application areas include pulse points such as the wrists and neck, although you can apply the fragrance wherever you normally prefer.

Avoid rubbing your wrists together immediately after application. Simply spray the fragrance and allow it to dry naturally.

You can also spray fragrance onto clothing, although some fragrance materials may potentially mark certain fabrics, so use appropriate care.

Are the fragrances authentic?

Yes.

We do not sell replicas, imitations or counterfeit fragrances. The fragrances used for our discovery sets and individual decants are sourced through trusted retailers, distributors and suppliers.

The original fragrance is simply transferred into a smaller TRU ICON™ atomizer for you to test and wear.

How are samples decanted?

Our fragrances are manually transferred into individual atomizers using appropriate decanting equipment, including syringes and protective gloves.

The process is carried out carefully with hygiene, accurate handling and preservation of the fragrance in mind. Each atomizer is then prepared and packaged for the customer.

Are samples sealed?

Samples are packaged securely to protect their contents during handling and delivery.

How should I store my samples?

Keep them upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.

Can fragrance samples change over time?

Exposure to heat, light and air can affect fragrance, so careful storage is recommended.

What sample sizes are available?

The exact size available is shown on each set or product page.

Our discovery sets are generally offered with 5 ml or 10 ml atomizers, giving you considerably more fragrance than a traditional small tester vial and enough to properly wear each fragrance multiple times.

How many wears can I get from a sample?

A 10 ml atomizer provides approximately 175 sprays, although the exact number can vary depending on the atomizer and how each spray is applied.

At around 4–5 sprays per wear, that's roughly 35–40 wears from a 10 ml bottle.

How long it lasts in calendar terms therefore depends on how frequently you use that particular fragrance.

Can I take a set when travelling?

Generally, yes. Our 5 ml and 10 ml atomizers are well below the standard 100 ml individual-container limit for liquids in carry-on baggage.

However, airport, airline and destination requirements can vary, so you should always follow the applicable security and travel rules for your journey.

How much fragrance should I apply?

It depends on the fragrance itself and your personal preference.

Some fragrances are considerably stronger than others, so there isn't a perfect number that applies to everything. As a general starting point, around 3–5 sprays is often enough to make the fragrance noticeable without applying an excessive amount.

You can then adjust based on the strength of the fragrance and how you prefer to wear it.

Can I use samples on clothing?

Always check the fabric first. Testing on skin or a scent strip is generally the best approach.

What fragrances are included in a set?

Each product page lists the fragrances included in that particular curated set.

Can I create a custom set?

Yes.

If you don't want one of our curated sets, visit our Individual Samples collection for men or women and choose the specific fragrances you'd like to try.

Add your preferred fragrances to your cart individually and complete your order as normal. Once we receive your order and payment information, we'll prepare the selected decants and ship them to you.

This is a good option if you already have several specific fragrances in mind and simply want to compare them before deciding which full bottle to buy.

Are sets suitable as gifts?

Yes. A discovery set is an elegant way to give someone room to explore and choose.

Can businesses order customized sets?

For hospitality and partnership enquiries, please contact TRU ICON™ to discuss your requirements.

Where can I find set availability?

Current availability and set details are kept up to date on the relevant product pages.

Commercial Scenting

Everything you need to know about choosing, installing and operating a professional scenting solution for your space.
What is commercial scenting?
Commercial scenting is the intentional use of fragrance in a business environment to influence how a space feels and how customers experience it. Instead of simply masking unpleasant smells, the goal is to make scent part of the atmosphere alongside lighting, music, materials, interior design and branding. Depending on the space, commercial scenting can be used to create a cleaner, calmer, warmer, more luxurious, more energetic or more distinctive environment.
What types of scent diffusers do you offer?
TRU ICON™ offers several types of professional scenting equipment for different environments and coverage requirements. This includes smaller wall-mounted diffusers, freestanding professional scent machines, larger commercial systems and solutions that may be suitable for integration with ventilation or HVAC systems, depending on the project. We also provide the fragrance oils used with these systems. Because the right equipment depends heavily on the space, we normally recommend choosing the system after reviewing the size, layout and intended use rather than simply selecting the biggest machine available.
How do I know which diffuser is right for my space?
The right diffuser depends on several factors, including the size of the area, room layout, ceiling height, airflow, ventilation, number of connected spaces and the scent intensity you want to achieve. A small treatment room, for example, requires a very different solution from a large hotel lobby or shopping environment. Tell us the approximate dimensions and type of space you want to scent, and we can recommend an appropriate system and placement based on the information available.
What types of businesses can use commercial scenting?
Commercial scenting can be considered by almost any business where the physical environment forms part of the customer or guest experience. Typical examples include hotels, spas, wellness centres, gyms, casinos, dealerships, retail stores, shopping centres, restaurants, offices, clinics, massage businesses and other hospitality or customer-facing spaces. The right approach depends on the business. A spa may want something calm and relaxing, while a dealership or hotel may want a cleaner, more refined or recognizable atmosphere.
Can TRU ICON™ design a scenting solution around my specific space?
Yes. We prefer to understand the space first rather than recommending the same system to everyone. You can provide information such as floor area, room layout, type of business, ventilation, the areas you want scented and the atmosphere you want to create. From there, we can help recommend the diffuser type, approximate placement, fragrance direction and operating approach. For larger or more complex projects, the solution can also involve multiple units or different systems across separate areas.

Asian Fragrances & Sourcing

Learn more about the Asian fragrance houses we feature, how our on-demand sourcing works and how to inquire about a fragrance.

Our current catalogue includes selected fragrances from To Summer / 观夏, RE CLASSIFIED, DOCUMENTS / 闻献 and Melt Season, with additional houses expected to be added over time.

We deliberately focus on brands we find genuinely interesting rather than trying to list every fragrance company we can source. The catalogue may therefore change as we discover new houses, establish new supplier relationships and find fragrances we believe are worth introducing to European customers.

If there is a particular Asian fragrance brand you are interested in that is not currently shown, you are always welcome to ask us about it.

Our work and partnerships in Asia introduced us to fragrance houses, scent profiles and creative concepts that are still relatively difficult to encounter in Europe.

Many of these brands approach fragrance through references such as tea, osmanthus, incense, woods, local landscapes, literature, food, memory and cultural traditions that can feel noticeably different from what European customers commonly see on mainstream fragrance shelves.

Yes.

We do not offer counterfeit, imitation or replica versions of the fragrances shown in our catalogue. Full bottles are sourced through the original brands, trusted suppliers, retailers or distribution partners, depending on the fragrance and sourcing route available at the time.

In some cases, yes.

Where we have access to the fragrance in a suitable format, we may be able to provide a sample or decant before you commit to a full bottle. However, not every fragrance shown in the on-demand catalogue will necessarily be available for sampling at all times.

If there is something specific you want to test first, contact us with the fragrance name and we can check what options are currently available.

We generally encourage testing first whenever practical — especially when you are considering an unfamiliar fragrance house.

Yes. Expanding this part of the catalogue is one of the areas we are actively interested in.

We continue to explore fragrance houses, suppliers and products across Asia and will add new brands when we find something that fits what we want TRU ICON™ to represent.

Many of the fragrance houses we feature have limited distribution in Europe, and some individual fragrances can have changing availability depending on the brand, supplier and market.

Rather than pretending everything is permanently in stock, we operate this part of the catalogue primarily on an on-demand sourcing model.

You tell us what you are interested in, we confirm current availability, sourcing conditions, price and estimated delivery, and you can then decide whether you would like to proceed.

This also allows us to offer a broader and more unusual selection without limiting the catalogue only to fragrances we permanently keep in our own inventory.

Potentially, yes.

The fragrances shown on the website represent what we currently want to highlight, but they are not necessarily the absolute limit of what we may be able to source.

If you are looking for a specific Asian fragrance, send us the brand and fragrance name through the contact form. If possible, include the bottle size or concentration you are looking for as well.

We will check with our available supplier and brand network and let you know whether we can obtain it.

Use the contact form on our website and tell us exactly what you are interested in.

Ideally include:

  • Brand
  • Fragrance name
  • Preferred bottle size
  • Quantity
  • Delivery country
  • Any other relevant request

Once we receive the inquiry, we can check the current sourcing options and come back to you with availability, pricing and an estimated timeframe.

Submitting an inquiry does not itself commit you to purchasing the fragrance.

If we cannot currently source the requested fragrance, we will let you know rather than substituting it without your approval.

Depending on the situation, we may be able to check another supplier, suggest another bottle size, wait for a restock or recommend a similar option if you are interested.

Some of these brands have more limited European distribution, so occasional availability changes are normal.

You remain in control of whether you want to wait, choose an alternative or simply not proceed.

There is no single guaranteed sourcing time because it depends on the brand, supplier, stock availability, origin country and destination.

Some fragrances may already be available through a supplier and can therefore be arranged relatively quickly. Others may need to be sourced specifically from Asia and will naturally take longer.

Once you tell us exactly which fragrance you want and where it needs to be delivered, we can check the current situation and provide a more useful estimate before you commit to the order.

The prices shown should be treated as current catalogue or indicative pricing unless explicitly confirmed for your order.

Because these fragrances are sourced on demand, supplier pricing, currency movements, shipping and availability can occasionally affect the final cost.

When you inquire, we will confirm the current price before you decide whether to proceed. We will not expect you to commit to an order based on a different price than the one actually being offered.

For individual customers, there is generally no need to purchase large quantities simply because the fragrance is being sourced on demand. A request can be made for an individual bottle.

For business, wholesale or larger-volume inquiries, minimum quantities may depend on the particular brand, supplier and product.

If you tell us what you need and approximately how many units you are considering, we can check the conditions that apply to that particular request.

Yes, depending on the brand and current supply conditions.

We are open to larger orders for businesses, hospitality projects, retail concepts and other commercial customers.

Availability, pricing and minimum quantities can differ from brand to brand, so larger orders are handled individually. Tell us which fragrances you are interested in, the approximate quantity and where the products are needed, and we can investigate the available sourcing options.

Yes.

We can assist businesses looking for fragrances for hotels, hospitality environments, retail concepts, gifting, customer experiences, vending-machine projects or other commercial uses.

This can include individual fragrances already shown in our catalogue or, where possible, other products sourced for a specific project.

For commercial inquiries, it is helpful to provide as much information as possible about the intended use, quantity, location and timeframe so we can approach suppliers appropriately.

Our current focus is the European Union, and this is where we are prepared to support customers and commercial projects.

Shipping possibilities, cost and estimated delivery time depend on the fragrance, quantity, sourcing location and destination country.

Because fragrances are alcohol-based products and can be subject to specific transport requirements, we confirm the practical shipping arrangement as part of the sourcing process rather than promising one identical delivery method for every order.

Once we know what you want and where it is going, we can confirm what is possible before the order proceeds.
